Because they’re ignorant! I’ve been taking methadone for over 3 years for “chronic back pain” I broke my back in 3 places about 4 years ago, and after several epidurals, E-stims ,Pain clinics, every dosage of hydrocodone,ETC. the surgeon and doctors decided methadone because you only need to take it every 12 hours compared to most the other “pain meds” that you have to take every 4-6 hrs….Methadone also doesn’t give a person a “high” as alot of the other meds do. Yes you feel less pain but, it stays in your system for up to 36 hours and you become “used to” the medication…I also wear Morphine patches, and take several muscle relaxers and nerve pain meds. I say that to give you a little “background”…It sucks BIG TIME taking all these meds!! I really don’t feel the drugs anymore,…I just don’t feel the pain as much!!!!!!!!!!!!! People really don’t have a clue about methadone! ACTUALLY IT’S THE #1 CHRONIC PAIN RELIEVER NOWDAYS!! Doctors are shying away from the oxycotin ETC. because of it’s bad rep, and potential for abuse!Yes, they also prescribe methadone to get people off of all kinds of other OPIATES!You’re right about that!
