What Are the Side Effects of Starting a Methodone Program?
Question by lanebobright: What are the side effects of starting a methodone program?
Would it be normal to exhibit very similar effects to being on heroine?( i.e. falling asleep, slurred speech, lethargic, etc.) At least during the first week or so while the dosage is being altered?
I have a friend who just started methadone and is still acting EXACTLY like she is high (nodding off, slurred speech, scratchy voice, etc.) she even says she feels high and she has been “on the program” for over a week now. I’m trying to find out if this is normal behavior or if my gut instinct is right and there is something fishy going on.

Been there and still on it. Yes, I’m talking about personal experience. No, there are no nodding, no slurred speech. Nuthin ur expecting my friend. It’s simply a legal drug for another drug. It’s wonderful if ur really serious about getting ur life in order. All methadone does is that ur able to function like a normal human being. Until you get on the right dose u’ll probabably still be wanting to chip. U know what I mean, right? Try it U’ll like it…Been in the program for 5 years, and I can say it’s the best thing I’ve done since getting hooked on Heroin.

yes, its very addictive too! i used 40 mil a day. for about a week. and it was enough for me to get off. some people stay on methodone for years (which i think is rediculous)
and i was strung out for 7 years, and it only took a week for me to kick it. with no withdrawls. good luck
