One of the advantages of suboxone is the fact that it is less rigidly controlled as compared to methadone because it has a lower potential for abuse and is a lot less dangerous in cases of overdose. Also, as patients progress opn therapy, the physician may write a prescription and let the patient take home a supply of the medication.
Suboxone can be used for detoxification, but it is used mostly for maintenance purposes. It relieves cravings and puts the individual on the way to a better lifestyle.
