Should I Leave Him and Cut All Ties? My Boyfriend Is an Addict and I See No Desire in Him to Quit.?

Question by Sheri H: Should I leave him and cut all ties? My boyfriend is an addict and I see no desire in him to quit.?
My boyfriend is addicted to methadone, oxycontin, and xanax. He is a very smart, loving, and caring man; but, the drugs are taking over his life. He does nothing anymore – work, sex, leave his house. He has no motivation without his drugs. He fills his scripts for all three mentioned above and takes all the oxycontin and xanax in a weeks time. He maintains on methadone the rest of the month, and a few illegally bought painkillers. The doctor gave him the methadone to keep him from withdrawing from the oxycontin; but, writes him oxycontin and Xonix – yes, I question this pay ahead quack of a doctor. Anyway, I am at my wits end. I don’t want to make his problem worse by totally cutting him off; but, I also want a life. It’s just a matter of time before I find him overdosed. He has heart problems anyway. How do you support a person like this? I am tired of the excuses.
