Question by urmysunshine: my boyfriend is a heavy drinker and is currently taking methadone?
What should I expect since weve been together 6 months, but we were acquantainces previous to that for a span of 2 years give or take… When I say what should I expect, I mean along the lines of Ill be frank, his libido, his depression considering hes intaking a lot of toxins, and also his life span?
Im worried obviously, he is not ready for N.A. though, were both in our late 20’s and what about marriage and kids also? hes pretty negative about the kids thing but not the marriage thing then again would i be making a huge mistake to marry someone with these problems. Im a social drinker/smoker/and I am drug free.
methadone is what opiuod addicts take after they stop taking the opiouds to semi recover but stay stable (i dont know if i spelled it right or that much about it either)

Okay been there done that…
Not me but my current boyfriend was a patient at the methadone clinic himself.
& I was always nagging him about drinking
a drink or two with meals
But I had his best interest in heart
& Here’s why
As a registerd nurse, I know that drinking alcohol while taking methadone. Causes very Dangerous side effects or death can occur when alcohol is combined with methadone. It’s also important to check your food and medicine labels to be sure these products do not contain alcohol.
Additional Information:
Make sure he NEVER-EVER takes any sort of nerve pill while on methadone. Methadone is an upper while nerve pills are a downer when you mix the two your body doesn’t know how to react and can cause death…

If he enjoys it too much than it is only going to continue and it will get worse!! The only way it will stop is if he wants to stop, but that may take a looooong time and he may never stop until it’s too late! If you really like him and care for him but you don’t want to be in a relationship with someone getting out of hand with drugs than you need to give him an ultimate…it’s either you or the drugs!
