Morphine Addiction….?
Question by Kristin K: Morphine Addiction….?
I started taking pieces of 200mg morphine pills since before christmas… and now if i stop taking them, i have withdrawls… how can i get off of these without feeling miserable? I know i should talk to my doc… but i dont want to… ive heard of suboxone… that it helps with the opiate withdrwls… but i was reading that ppl stay on the suboxone for years. I cant do that… can i just take it for a month til the morphine withdrawls subside and stop taking the suboxone? Ive heard tht there are suboxone withdrawls but they arent half as bad as the morphine withdrawls… please help!

My brother is a heroine addict and he takes suboxone. It’s true, it’s addicting– he’s always asking my mom to give him more. Anyway, I would suggest you do take suboxone even though it’s addicting, and then when you’re used to that, go off of it cold turkey (like you said though, the withdrawals will only be half as bad as if you’re still using morphine.

Set yourself a goal target to be off Morphine. You can’t just say, “Oh, I’m going to quit, now”, because you’ll just go straight back onto it.
Also, I don’t know if this will work, but good luck with it anyway, if the tablets are dissolving tablets, try cutting bits off the tablet (DON’T do this if they are capsule) each time you take them.
Have you tried another stimulant such as sugary drinks? Joining a club? Having something to work towards?
You should really talk to your Doctor. He will offer free confidential advice and some Doctors may help you quit completely by building a plan for you. Don’t forget, Morphine is used in hospitals, so it’s not exactly a ‘crazy’ drug like Cocaine, Heroine or LSD.
You may need some self-motivation. Try getting some exercise daily.
Anyway. must dash,
wish u look. dont 4get its possible!!!!
