I just took a 5mg methadone pill for pain ive been having in my shoulder from football. i dont have a tolerance to any pain pills or anything like that i just took this to take away the pain. ill be fine right?

Yes you will be fine. However, methadone is about the nastiest of the opiates, and you definitely do not need to take it. If you have pain in your shoulder that OTC Nsaids won’t handle then start with codeine or hydrocodone not Methadone. Using methadone is like jumping to the top (or bottom) of the ‘addiction ladder’ .. I won’t go into why it is so awful, just know that it is.
Your 5mg dose is fairly negligible in terms of Methadone, and certainly not an overdose,.. but with someone that has zero tolerance anything can produce side effects — Methadone stays in your system/body quite a while.. so you may not feel completely back to yourself for a few days,.. or it could not be enough to really cause much of a CNS effect.
The worry with opiate overdose is CNS depression, specifically respiratory depression. It can cause your breathing to become shallow, and that coupled with barely being able to stay awake leads to a state of danger not to mention the side effect of nausea which in this state , on your back, would asphyxiate you as you would be unaware. It is quite common for an opiate overdose to kill someone asleep/passed out in this way.
You shouldn’t have to worry about this, but you do have to be careful.
