Is or Has Anyone Taken Lotronex for IBS?

Question by WEEZ: Is or has anyone taken Lotronex for IBS?
I misspelled Lotronex, so asking question again just in case. I need to talk to someone who has been taking Lotornex for IBS to see if it has helped them or have had any serious side affects.
Thank you!

I have not ever used this drug.

I just wanted to let you know what HAS helped me. I have IBS – and I am assuming that you are referring to Irritable bowel and NOT inflammatory bowel as there is a really big difference.

Anyway, it happens that I also have fibromyalgia. I started taking the drug Ultracet for yet another pain issue and it just so happened that it helped the pain of both my fibromyalgia and the IBS. I’m guessing the side effects caused my gi tract to ‘slow down’. When I stopped taking it the fibromyalgia pain came right back but the IBS didn’t….however, I’d also started taking methadone as well, which also has a side effect of constipation. When I stopped that, it did come back. So, *I’m guessing here that the side effects of the narcotic type drugs helps bring the overactive gi of IBS down to a more normal keel.* Just a thought considering what my experiences have been. I think this is an option that hasn’t been considered or realized by the medical profession, yet. Maybe the info will be helpful if you are looking for options. For myself, these drugs fixed a problem I wasn’t addressing but I sure am glad. I feel much better, now.

Wish I could let you know more about the specific drug you’re looking at. If you ARE referring to inflammatory bowel, well, I guess you can ignore this, lol. Good Luck!
