He says he’s on liquid methadone. But I feel like he might be lying. Does methadone make your pupils restricted? Does it maybe have side effects that would make him sit up during sleep and rock back and forth? How could I even know the difference whether he’s on something like heroin or pills versus methadone?

Methadone is used to try to treat heroin addiction because they work on the body in the same way. Methadone is highly addictive for that reason. They both have opiate properties, and both constrict the pupils. Narcotic pills also constrict the pupils. You will probably not be able to tell the difference just by observing his symptoms because they all cause similar symptoms.
