I Am on Methadone & I’m Having Really Bad Joint Pain & Sometimes Numbness Too Has Anyone Ever Heard of This?

Question by Liza M: I am on Methadone & I’m having really bad joint pain & sometimes numbness too has anyone ever heard of this?
I’m currently taking 100mg a day of the liquid and the joint pain is the worst in the mornings. I’ve been on Methadone before & never had this. Sometimes the pain is so bad I can hardly move my arm or knee or fingers or which ever it is that’s hurting at that time. If anyone has any ideas or has been through this I’d really love an answer. I’m not sure if maybe my dose needs increased or lowered or what please help?

I have taken Methadone for chronic back pain.

It’s possible that the pain is from withdrawal – this pain can be very severe. What is your dosing schedule? Let’s say you take it every four hours during the day, then go eight hours during the night without, you could suffer from withdrawal when you wake up.

This is just a possibility. I’m certainly not an expert =:)

as a recovered opiate addict myself… i can tell you that pain you are describing is common in opiate addicts… it was the worst part of not having the drug in my system! mine was and still is mainly in my legs… just awful. i still have it and have been sober for 3 years, but neurontin helps a lot. you gotta kick the methadone, though… seriously..
