i know that it’s made from poppies and long term effects include your voice changing. it gives a feeling of power and euphoria hence the name “heroin” from “heroic”. it’s possible to get addicted with just one hit – it’s widely considered the most addictive drug out there which is why it causes such a problem. for anyone who is an addict they can be prescribed a replacement opiate drug such as methadone to ease the craving. this si important because heroin addiction is so physically strong that when people go “cold turkey” (straight off heroin with no replacement) they shake and sweat uncontrollably and their arms and legs move involuntarily, they are in a LOT of pain and can suffer heart attacks and die because of the extreme physical dependance they have on the drug.
