Heroin Addiction Is Destroying My Life?
Question by Imran: heroin addiction is destroying my life?
I have been on heroin for eight years I am always in pain in and out of jail my wife and kids have left me. Are they anyone who can say i quit heroin? I tried speaking to social workers doctors but the advice is rehab or another substance which i,ve been told is worse to come off. I am also a head chef of a very busy hotel i can’t take medication that will leave me like a zombie but at the same time i,m in a lot of pain and getting the stuff is dangerous i,ve been mugged and arrested which leaves me back to square one. If anyone has successfully quit this poison please help by telling me how. Thank you

I quit meth- I know it’s different from heroin, but still ruins lots of lives. So, I understand where you are coming from. If rehab seems scary to you, I’d say first try an AA meeting, get some local support from people who understand. There are likely other heroin users in recovery who could give you the best advice and talk to you when you feel like using again.
I quit meth without doing inpatient, but I felt like I was going to die and had severe mood swings for quite a few weeks. It’s hard, but you can do it.

Heroin is tough to quit. I will pray for you. I've met many addicts/junkies in the mental hospital and rehab. Most are beautiful people. Google "LSD for opiate addiction". BEST advice I can give you.
