According to the drug project and Journal of American Medical Association, 900,000 Americans die a year from substance abuse, alcohol and tobacco. In 2000, 17,000 deaths occurred as a result of illegal drug abuse, while the vast majority of deaths were caused by tobacco and alcohol. Illegal drug abuse might be lower because of the criminality of the substances.
.Heroin
Heroin kills 2,000 a year in America. In England, heroin, methadone and morphine killed nearly 5,000 people. Injecting heroin with a needle can cause infection at the site of the injection. Heroin can cause a user to become unaware, putting the user at risk of injury. Heroin is most often fatal when used in combination with other depressants. Still, excessive amounts of heroin can cause oxygen deprivation to different parts of the body, causing death. Two other facts to take into consideration are that heroin withdrawal can be deadly and heroin is particularly dangerous when mixed with prescription drugs.

Getting the occasional whiff of gas is not a problem – it happens while you’re filling your car.
If you breathe it for a long time, such that you get very dizzy, then you’re doing damage.
What you described is normal environmental exposure.

How Does Heroin Affect the Central Nervous System?
Question by Laurenislegit: How does heroin affect the central nervous system?
How does heroin affect the nervous system, like memory, mental health etc. And what is the effect? Thank you!

Heroin Effects
Heroin effects the central nervous system by depressing it. Heroin depresses nerve transmission in sensory pathways of the spinal cord and brain that signal pain. This explains why heroin is such an effective pain killer. Heroin also inhibits brain centers controlling coughing, and breathing.
Heroin is exceedingly addictive, quickly producing tolerance and dependence. Although heroin is even more effective as a painkiller than morphine and codeine, it is so highly addictive that its use is illegal. Methadone is a synthetic opiate that is used to break addiction to heroin (and replace it with addiction to methadone).

No. The consumption of sugar does NOT cause diabetes. If you are a Type I diabetic, it is most likely linked to an immune system infection. If you are a Type II, then it is more than likely linked to lifestype choices. While eating the sugar isn’t good for you, you becoming a diabetic is not a result of your work.
