Question by starmama: Methadone Overdose Effects?
I know a 60 year old male who has been on methadone for years. He often nods throughout the day and looks like a person who is high on heroin during those times. Last year he learned that be has Hepatitis C. I’m not sure if he got the necessary treatment for it.

Recently, he went away and was given a 7 day supply from his clinic. The first three days were fine but on day 4 he became very ill. He was vomiting, nauseous, lethargic, had no appetite, and his urine was extremely dark. He was drinking beer as he always does prior to this. Fast forward two weeks later and he still has little to no appetite which isn’t like him at all and practically sleeps all day and night. We have tried to get him to go to the ER but he refuses to do so. Instead, he has chosen to wait to see his doctor to whom he won’t see for a few more days.    Read more...

You should never take 30 of any tablets, you need to get medical help ASAP. If you are already on anti depressants, then you most definately should not be taking this many. If you are suicidal, you need to get help. Dont be selfish by trying to kill yourself

Question by WannaBSurgeon: am I overdosing on methadone?
I have been on 55 mg’s of methadone for about the past 6 months. I am doing a slow opiate taper due to recent dependence because of a surgery.

This methadone can make me SEVERELY tired and lethargic. Sometimes i will be laying down and i will say things that make no sense, I will pass out unintentionally, and when I wake up I will shoot out of the laying position extremely fast as I find myself very short of breath unable to think and very light headed.

Are these common side effects of opiate dependence? The side effects are really beginning to scare me. My dose has been stable for the past 6 months and these side effects are relatively new.
