If a Person Takes Xanex for an Extended Period of Time and Then Stops Could They Have Seizures as a Result?
Question by natalie p: If a person takes Xanex for an extended period of time and then stops could they have seizures as a result?
This idiot I know is presicribed Roxycotons, Xanex, Methadone and maybe something else. He overdosed on a coctail of these about 3 months ago, as a result he got pnuemonia from the puke in his lungs. He says he quit eating his xanex 2 weeks ago and has lowered is Roxy consumption from 5/ day to 1. Tonight he had a seizure (outsretched stiffened hands, throat gargling, profuse sweating, skin reddenning, and shaking followed by severe disorientation).
So I am asking is the likeliness of this seizure to be a result of withdrawal or is this reaction more likely to be a result of the accumulation of these drugs in his system over time (almost 2 years)?
Some extra info. he is 23 years old and LEGALLY prescribed these drugs. He pays his Dr. with his unemployment money (more than $ 250/wk.- I think up to a year), and buys his legal prescriptions with more of that unemployment money, but can’t afford to pay more than $ 50/mo. for child-support.
