Transitioning From Methadone to Oxycodone – HELP!?

My medications are as follows:
Methadone 30 mg b.i.d. ; Hydrocodone/Vicodin ES 7.5/750mg q.i.d. ; Diazepam 5 mg b.i.d. Prn ; Lyrica 75 mg b.i.d. ; Lexapro/Escitalopram 5 mg s.i.d.
My doctor wants me to discontinue the Methadone completely and follow the Oxycodone regimen. The withdrawal syndrome is becoming extremely painful. Any suggestions on how to do this successfully?

Your doctor just needs to switch you over to a sufficient amount of oxycontin to keep your withdrawal at bay. The dose needs to be equivanelt to your methadone dose. If your doctor is not willing to do that I would suggest that you ask your doctor to be put back on the methadone and slowly taper the dose to a level where you can comfortably switch over to oxycontin. If you switch from a higher dose of methadone, as you were on, to a lower dose of oxycontin you will have withdrawal symptoms and they will last for weeks due to the long half life of methadone. You can ask your doctor for medication to manage the symptoms but nothing is going to make you feel 100% except for a sufficient amount of opiates.
