At What Point Do You Become Addicted to Norco And/or Methadone?
Question by curious: At what point do you become addicted to Norco and/or Methadone?
I’m on 10mg of Norco once a day and 5mg of Methadone once a day. I’m prescribed more than this, but I’m worried about getting addicted. How long would it take to become addicted to this amount? Or would I only become addicted if I was taking more than this? When do you know you’re becoming addicted? Are there any physical signs or symptoms? Or would you have to stop taking it to see if you withdrawal or not?
Thanks for any information you may have. Serious answers only please.

I would only use methadone as a last resort drug only if nothing else helps for the pain. Methadone is prescribed for pain but usually only if nothing else works. It is extremely potent and has bad side effects both short term and long term. Plus I’ve seen people go through the worst withdrawals from only small amounts if they take it long enough. Withdrawal signs can be everything from anxiety, cold / hot flashes, mood swings, among alot of other things. Really just an overall sense of discomfort would probably be the main sign of withdrawal. I would say you can definitely become addicted to these medications at that dose but would speak with your doctor about maybe swapping out the methadone for something else, if you need an additional drug. I don’t know why your on them in the first place and how old you are so I cant say what or how much of a drug I think you should take. If your worried about withdrawal, methadone can be by far the worst when it comes to pain pills and just not worth it unless it’s the only thing that works for you. You would probably have to quit taking the meds for a day or two, maybe longer to see any signs of withdrawals at such a low dose, but NEVER quit taking prescribed medication without consulting your doctor first. When it comes to medication, always consult your doctor first on questions that may arise about your meds. Your pharmacy can be a good source of info too. Hope this helps.
