Methadone/methadose Problem?
Question by : Methadone/methadose problem?
my mother is currently on outpatient rehab and is taking methadose. I am not very sure whether or not and it is the same as methadone. She’s taking it in order to stop her pill addiction she has had for almost 25 years. She has bipolar disorder level 2. she has been paranoid, irritable, forgetful, and very shaky. She’s forgotten what day it was, has been hearing things, and has forgotten about other things too. Is this normal? I’m very concerned. She also hasn’t wanted to be left alone and can hardly sleep.

Methadose is methadone and the symptoms you are describing are not typical of someone on methadone, that sounds more like her bipolar disorder. Still, the prescribing doctor absolutely NEEDS to know about her conditions and whatever medications she is already on. Only a trained doctor, with a thorough knowledge of methadone maintenance treatment, can tell you what to expect in your mom’s particular case. I am emphasizing the fact that the doctor needs to have some special knowledge because many doctors are not as familiar with methadone treatment for addiction as they should be.
But many methadone patients suffer from some type of mental illness as well as addiction so your mother’s situation isn’t at all unusual and some clinics even have special programs for people like her.
Good luck
