I am concerned that a basic urine drug test for employment will find that I have Methadone in my system, which I take for back pain. If I disclose I take it, will I need to provide any proof of the prescription, or is it against the law for them to dig into my medical records. I am afraid if they find out I have a bad back I won’t get the job, even though I am capable. Do the drug tests look for Methadone? Am I safe as long as I list it as a current medication I am taking?

a drug test will pick up any kind of drug. but as long as you have a prescription for the drug there should be no issue. if they don’t hire you for that reason then you could sue the pants off them. as long as no illegal drugs or non prescribed drugs show up you should be fine. good luck
