On Friday I Took 24-28 Norco or Hydrocodones. What Is Happening?

Question by Chip: On Friday I took 24-28 Norco or Hydrocodones. What is happening?
I already take 100mg methadone daily (prescribed). I took between 24 and 28 Norco or Hydrocodone pills on Friday. I think it was Hydrocodone/Acetometaphine (sp?). Saturday I had the worst back ache imaginable and now my abdomine and intestines feel like they are terribly swollen inside and it hurts to pee. I assume if I were going to die, I would have by now. What is happening and how long til it’s over? My midsection is very tender and hurts to touch as well and roll over etc. Is it possible I did permanent damage?
I am replying to the 1st response. I wish I could email you directly and ask questions. I also have a pain in my chest. The upper right side (not the side my heart is on ). It is almost my chest/towards my shoulder. I have a very high tolerence to opiods. I take methadone daily because I have various digestive issues. I have had 2 surgeries (1 was removing a good amount of my intestines). Is it possible I did permanent damage to my liver where I am going to need dialysis or something?
Sorry, I keep remembering things that I forgot to write. I also have been sweating all night long. That 1st day I felt as if I pulled something in my back. It was extremely sore but that has gotten a lot better (not 100% but better). Now I just have sweating, a tight pain in the upper right side of my chest towards my shoulder, I can feel inflamation and swelling where my rectum was, intense pain in my midsection, when I urinate, I feel the same pain in my midsection and it is almost difficult to urinate. My midsection is also sensative to the touch and movement too, When I roll over it hurts.
Deanneth: is there a way I can email you? Like if you put your email addy like this 1dayatatime at ovi dot com is my address.

Can you email me?

I have crohns disease also and a few months ago had surgery because of a prolapsed instestine/rectum. Right now I feel like I have to use the bathroom but I am too swollen inside and have to manually pull it out (gross right) but the problem with that is, I am TOO sore/tender inside so that alone is extremely painful. Then it also hurts to move. I didn’t realize my upper right side/chest had anything to do w/liver but that is what hurts also. My abdomine area and then upper right area. For some reason it’s hard to pee also and hurts to pee.

If it had acetaminophen in it, you took in a whopping 7800 – 12000 mg of that– a severe overdose. You probably killed or severely injured your liver and are suffering the effects of that. I highly encourage you to get your butt to the ER or urgent care so you can be started on Mucomyst or something like that. They will test your liver function via blood test, and I suspect the results will show highly elevated liver enzymes.

This damage occurred because the hydrocodone component of Norco that you took somehow didn’t kill you outright by respiratory arrest– you must have a very high tolerance to opiates, or it would have.

EDIT: Hey, buddy, that sounds bad. The upper right quadrant pain is consistent with harm to the liver. You don’t go on dialysis for liver problems; that is for kidney failure. You may well have caused acute renal failure with the drug amounts that you took– people can recover from that, but you will have to be a lot kinder to your bod. I wasn’t kidding about getting yourself emergency treatment. I don’t want to scare you, but you are in bad shape– an issue made more complicated by your medical history. I repeat, you need real, live medical assistance. Please don’t deny yourself that.
