pretty much the same as if you started using heroin, but it doesn’t have the same rush that heroin does. It does however provide a peaceful sense of euphoria, like heroin, again not as intense as that of heroin. Obviously you can still become addicted to methadone which ain’t healthy or cheap.

I have a friend who had a rare back nerve condition that he said oxycodone did not relieve & he was able to have methadone prescribed. He said it did help get rid of the pain often, but it did not make him feel like a functional heroin user. He had no sense of well being although he was into playing his drums after he was able to retire on the medical disabilty due to his nerve condition.
Ironically a few years ago he developed a serious malignacy behind his appendix & his chemo therapy apparently relived the back nerve pain & he has not had to use methadone or oxy since. Of course the chemo did a number on him.
