How Would You Go About Getting Prescribed Methadone?
Question by pdoggity: How would you go about getting prescribed methadone?
I recently started a great job somewhere, but I’ve been struggling with my addiction to heroin. Would I tell my doctor about it? and if I did get prescribed methadone would I get fired? I work for a Collections department in the bank, so I’m sitting at a desk all day on the phone. I don’t know what to do

I think you should actually go to a methadone clinic and inquire. Below is a gov-sponsored directory of them in the US. The private listings seem scam-my.
If you can avoid adding this to your medical records, especially if you are not yet insured, then that would be a plus and the clinic might afford you this benefit. I may be wrong because there are laws to protect people with diseases who are getting treatment when it comes to their job, but I don’t know about addictions in that case…would depend on the state also.
If it were me, I’d go in with jeans and an old t-shirt, no jewelry and cell phone, etc, and see what they say about getting you help. I would also make SURE to sign up for and go to a regular support group. The methadone alone will rarely, if ever, get you off that stuff. The effects of methadone on your functionality is not much better than heroin, frankly, so you need a support program to get you off that too.
Good luck 🙂

Dude, you must go to the doctor to get prescribed Methadone. You also would have to let your work know what is up. They may be able to help you and you would need them in your corner because Methadone is a powerful drug in its own right. Methadone covers the same receptors in your brain that Heroin would occupy. This is why it works. The problem is that then you need help to get off of the Methadone. You may need to ask the bank if there is anyway you could be sent to a treatment center. Good luck, I truly applaud your efforts in kicking the heroin.
