How Long Does One Need to Use a Drug to Experience Withdrawal Symptoms?
Question by Nicholas S: How long does one need to use a drug to experience withdrawal symptoms?
A friend of my mine was using methadone, an opiate, recreationally several times a day for a week and stopped abruptly. He has now been sick for three days since. He feels tired, nauseous, and is getting headaches. Could this be withdrawal? How long does someone need to use a drug before this can happen?

Yes, he is now experiencing withdrawal, and those are the clear symptoms because of drug abuse. It only takes days and weeks before a person experiences the withdrawal symptoms, when he/she stops using the drugs. It is better for your friend to seek treatment from rehabilitation centers so that he can recover from his dilemma.
