how about methadone clients who switch to suboxone???

Yes, if they’re medication compliant, and are willing to accept therapy to better themselves. They have to be able to afford it, of course, and for many this is a serious setback. Don’t know about suboxone.

I’ve been taking Suboxone for the last 2 years and finally feel that I am strong enough to go down milligram by milligram… I’m down to 1 and next month it’ll be half and then I should be done. Getting of heroin is extremely hard… it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do… I’ve never been on the methadone program, but I have a few friends that are… The higher they up their dose (usually to get high) the longer it’ll take to come off of it… and with methadone weening yourself off is a long and slow process. A friend of mine who was on the program was recently incarcerated all while he was on high doses of methadone. Obviously they don’t give you your daily methadone in jail so he had to detox from it and he said it was almost as excruciating as heroin withdrawals…    Read more...

No only a doctor can do this. You should probably let your teenager be a teenager. Unless you suspect heavy drug use or addiction to heroine or cocaine

No, blood tests for home use are not available. And unless you are a medical professional you won’t know how to draw blood. I don’t know why you want a blood test. They are very expensive tests and can only detect drugs for a very short time (typically just a few hours). The most used is a urinalysis which is far cheaper, it is available for use at home, it requires no training, and it can detect drugs much longer than a blood test.    Read more...

Question by Cj: How dangerous is Methadone 10mg, to someone who is used to taking a minimum of 50mg of Hydrocodone daily?
Also how long is it active in your system after taking it?

The minimum time methadone lasts is 6 hours, but most docs will tell you around 8-12 hours. The real question is how much is the total daily dosage of methadone will you take, as one methadone is really useless if you are taking hydrocodone 5 x day. methadone should be given 2-3 times a day and yes, it will cover you pain, just don’t double up on it like you would with hydrocondone.    Read more...
