i got a script 2/24/08…will i have to Waite for my next apt..or can they give me something else early??i use to be on methadone 120mgs for 2 yrs i weened myself off..had to get back on something else cuz of my chronic pains…what will they give me you think that will knock this out..methadone again at a lower dose??????/ 10 POINTS ASAP…….

just trying to see what people are using for chronic phantom
limb pain??my doctor gave me methadone but on the net it says it blocks the euphoria i need for pain relief.i was on morphine but after 3-4 weeks the high went away??why dose
methadone take away the opiud high?dose oxycontin work better?any help is appreciated thanks in advance

It is mostly used for opiate dependancy, I was addicted to morphine for 6 yrs and have been taking Methadone from a doctor to help get it under control for almost 4 yrs now, So in all I have used up almost 10 yrs now with meds and I am looking for an alternative, Soboxin is suppose to help me get off the methadone without getting me just as addicted to it, I have been told that it is a lot easier to come down off of Soboxin than methadone or other opiates, Any thoughts on the issue? And plz do not comment on my drug abuse, I go to therapy and have not used anything other than methadone as prescribed in almost 4 yrs, so I already deal with guilt and all the other issues that come with addiction, if you have never been in my shoes then plz do not make judgements!! I just want to get my life in more control than now, I have 3 kids and I am only 31 and I want to have a long healthy life! So I would love to hear your opinions and/or thoughts on Soboxin?

rapid detox

I started taking suboxone in October after spending several years in pain managment where I was on methadone.I used methadone for about 2 years,but towards the end and increasing in dosage-100mg/day of the pain managment. I was unable to get and keep an erection.I told the doctor about this but he said it was meth or nothing.He gave me instructions to taper off the methadone-which I followed exactly.However,I was really going through bad w/d.So I called a subox.Dr and he put me on 16mg of suboxone/day-in October of 2007-way too high of a dose-shouldve been 4.I took this for 2 months.I have cut back to about 3 mg of suboxone on a good day, and 6 on a bad day.I want to get off suboxone all together.I’m scared to death I’ll need an opioid in an emergency, and it will block all treatment for me. Plus, I’m due to have neck surgery this fall and I’m not sure what to do for the pain afterwards.Plus I still have a lot of pain, and nothing eases it anymore.Suggestions to get off suboxone?
When I say good day and bad day, I mean how much subox to quiet the WDs I sometimes have after taking 3mgs several days in a row. I’m more addicted to suboxone than the methadone I was on. The doctor started me out way too high of a dose at 16mg per day- should have been 4-8 mg. I’m just scared of needing emergency pain relief and nothing being able to help. Plus if I have a major surgery, I will need help with pain as well. I tried quitting suboxne from 8 mg to 0 mg for 5 days, but I had terrible WDs. I tried to take a Vicodin ES, and I felt nothing. So suboxone stays in the system quite long- which is why I really want to get this crap out of me. I really should have tapered down with methadone, but the doctor was so arrogant that I hated dealing with him.He treated pain managment patients as thieves or something just trying to get narcotics.The pain doctor really got me screwed by suggesting the “safe methadone” pain managment approach. That stuff and suboxone are a pain!

Based on the only pain Dr I’ve seen, and the only subox Dr I’ve seen, it appears by their atttitudes that I would have a very hard time going back for pain treatment with methadone. All pain doctors would want all of my medical records, and the prior methadone pain treatment then switching to suboxone would show up. I’m worried that because of this, I’d be blacklisted from most pain doctors. It’s amazing the arrogance these people have about treating people for pain- I guess it’s caused by a few people looking to get high- I’m not really sure-maybe its pressure from the medical community itself.
FYI, I am probably going to have discs in my neck fused together- which the Drs I’ve met with say there is about a 50% change of success that it will help the pain, but the con is that I will forever lose range of motion in my neck.

methadone treatments

I am 30 yrs old father.It`s 2 yrs that I have RSD because of injury.I had nerve blocking 35 times that they didn`t reduce my pain a bit. I hospitalized twice for 3 days each time, they nomed my hand but after that my pain back again. I had sympathectomy surgury, after 10 days my pain & swalling came back again. Now I have too much pain, I use Methadone 100ml a day, my right nose hole & right eye are bleeding sometimes. My right ear hearing decrease. I decide many times to cut my hand, I wish to die everyday because of extra pain. 2 way offer me for reducing pain: coma therapy in Mexico by Dr. Kirkpatrick, or put the device in back. That both of them are too expensive,($40.000 & $160.000),L&I doesn`t cover these 2 treatments and DSHS too. I want to know is it another way to get rid of this pain or not? such as: cutting the nerves or cut my right arm.because I heard there are some countries that do these treatment. I live in WA.Is there any Dr. here to help me?

narcotics addiction

10 days ago I used my last hit of heroin , At that time my doc , (which is a addiction specialist ) put me on 80 mg of met a day . In that ten days I have droped myself down to 70mg for the last 4 days and seem to be fine with the drop . Now is this feasible ? to drop 10 mg every 10 days untill I am off ( one quick note )-( I have a very good friend that runs a christian based recovery home that would be dosing my pills ) anyhow in 7 weeks time of droping my dose like this will I experiance any real discomfort ? This is the first time I have been on met and I just started a little better than a week ago . Thanks for any help on this . By the way suboxone is not a option for me .

cocaine addiction

I have an appt. Mon(its Wed/night) to hopefully start w/ suboxone treatment. I have abused opiates for about 13 yrs. Been to rehab a couple of times to detox off of Oxy’s. Stayed clean a couple of months then right back on them. For the last 3 months, I have been strictly taking methadone(about 60 to 80 mgs/day). I reckon my question is… what should i tell my doctor? Should i stop using methadone tonight? i’ve read that you can’t start suboxone if you have methodone in your system. I was thinking maybe I could get by the next 4-5 days eating oxy’s again. Also, I need to know what kind of dosages I should tell him i’ve been taking b/c i’m worried to death that he isn’t going to start me out w/ a high enough dose to get me through my wd’s(spoken like a true addict). Lastly, It’s $750 for the first 3 days and then 125 a month after that. That’s alot of money I could spend on street methadone. IS IT WORTH IT?

is called a blocker. as in that when you take this drug it blocks any other drug from begin released into your system, i have heard this from some dr’s, and some friends. then i have been told no it is not a blocker. does anyone out there know whether it is or is not? and i’m not looking for any one to give me smart a** answers or preach to me about it! i know what it is used for, i know why it was made, and i know there are certain drugs that can’t be taken with it. so for the people who know the answer your welcome and again no stupid answers. thank you

methadone abuse

I had a knee injury 8 months ago. I was using methadone for the pain. 40-60 mills a day. I’m trying to quit now but I am finding it to be rather uncomfortable. I have read many websites saying wihdraw symptoms can last up to a month. I am 3 days into quitting right now. When does the worst part of the withdraw symptoms occur. Will they start becoming more tolerable after the first week??

meth addiction

i was on methadone for 7 and a half months. i stopped myself at 20mgs. i done went through my withdraw of methadone at least i hope. i was in bed so sick for 4 day’s i couldn’t even lift my head. for the last 4 months of using methadone i had no energy at all. i was on 100mg. a day. it has been exactally a month now of no use other than a so- called pain reliever my dr. prescribed for severe back pain. she run test and found i have a cyst growing on my kidney. i’ve already had a cyst to rupture on each kidney over 4 years i have passed kidney stones 3 different times in the past 10 years. she put me on diclofenac sod 50mg. twice daily. this was on 3/24/08 this medication is not helping at all. does anyone know if my pain now it get’s so severe at times i throw up is from withdraw or something else. i go back to my dr 4/21 08 . the pain is at the very lower part of my back, now for 4 day’s is traveling up my spine to the back of my neck. yesterday it gave me a headache. any info. please
