Due to the epidemic like use of opiate anelgesics (pain killers) such as hydrocodone or oxycodone this treatment is badly needed. What is Medicaid’s position for those who have no insurance. Does this vary from state to state, county to county? Can this be handled with some dignity, other than going to a methadone clinic, or hospital setting where the cost is astronomical?
This is not only a mental health issue, but is ruining the lives of many people in the US and worldwide. Pain medication has become the latest and most pervasive way of becoming addicted to opiates.

I’ve known this girl for a few years and we haven’t talked much in the past few years because of a very complicated sitution but she does every type of drug except meth and has been in and out of rehab two times for an eating disorder and ate white oleanders to get out one of the seven times

she just doesn’t have a reason to live and i wish i could give her one but life pretty much sucks especially for her, she had it pretty rough growing up, no longer has a college fund because of rehab and has failed ninth grade a few times because of absences anyway

but im talking to her and i suppose just giving her a semi-good influence helps but i would like some imput in what advice i could give her in getting clean, obviously normal programs don’t help, shes been on methadone and lithium and just uses them as a supplement to her habits
what can i say to help her? why shouldn’t she stay on them honestly? when you think about it. she doesn’t care if she dies and can’t handle pain

i have been an addict now for 6 years, and been trying to quit for nearly 6 years, i hate what it has done to my life, all i do is get up and panick about how im going to get my next fix, i hate the drug and everyone i know on it hates it too, i have been in rehab twice and both times i came out and started using again,it controls me and when people say why dont you just stop i wish it was that easy. ive been on methadone but cant help using on top so thats no good and did nt have any luck with subutex either, i hate it when people say it makes you a bad person cause i have never stolen or prostituted myself even though i have thought about it i cant bring myself to do it, i fund it with my little bit of money i have and do car boot sales and things to afford it but im coming to the point that i cant see a way out of this for me and am afraid that i will be like this for the rest of my horrible life, its horrible, what is there left for me to do

I met a wonderful guy at a hospital. He wants a serious relationship and i have just split up with my husband of 6 years. I really like him!!! He also told me that the reason for his hospital stay was a 10 year drug addiction. He is trying to quit. Do you think it is possible? should i even start a relationship based on this info?

Both he and I are heroin addicts. I have began methadone treatment program and plan on attending NA meetings and seeing psychologists/psychiatrists on a regular basis. I have relapsed many times but I want this time to really work. Well, my bf of 7 years has yet to quit. I am so worried about him. He moved out and back home which is best for us right now especially since he is still using. He is fearful of quitting because of how sick you get from withdrawl. He can’t afford the methadone clinic like I can. He really needs residental, inpatient treatment and somewhere they detox you kindly and not cold turkey with no medicine. He has no job and no insurance. His parents are ready to kick him out and he will basically be homeless. Where do poor addicts go for treatment? Yesterday, he had to go to the ER and they told him his kidneys may be starting to fail from heavy usage of drugs. This is scary. When I met him, he was a very kind, loving guy who only smoked pot. HELP!

I have been using opiates for over a year now, sometimes with a perscription sometimes with out. Oxycontin has been my main obsticle and being that it nearly costs a dollar a milligram it can cost up to $100 just for one day. I have not been using everyday but every chance I get money thats where almost all of it goes. My mom is aware of this addiction and I have been trying to stress to her that this is a very hard one to break. I have used marijuana, adderall, benzodiazapines, and other perscription medicine. Opiates have this grab on me that is very hard to quit.

Withdrawls are the worst, I dont feel like doing anything, I get these unstopable cravings, and I feel very depressed. Not having insurance that covers rehab I told my mom that going to the Methadone clinic would help all my cravings and withdrawls and that I can slowly get off Methadone. My mom said that “you cant use another drug to get off a drug” Apparently she knows people that have used Methadone for pain problems and it has had very bad side effects and could cause cancer? thats what she told me. She said that I should go to NA meetings but I have been and it hasnt been all that eye opening for me.

Is there another route or will I just have to go on the Methadone program without her knowing? I am of legal age to do so.
