I have been married for 5 and half years now. Since the beginning of our relationship I have been lying on some level about the same recurring problem. I have a subance abuse problem, and have been in therapy and was doing great for quite some time. I recently had a relapse due to getting hooked on my pain killers for a back injury. I used this injury more often than needed to get as may pills as possible. My wife would find evedince of this and I would be caught red handed but flat our deny it. I have been doing very well for some time. I have continued with therapy. I have even taken it upon myself to have my doctor put in my records issue with subsance abuse and that I can’t be prescribed narcotic pain killers. I recently had some more issues with my back pain and was prescribed a small dose of methadone for the pain. I snorted it. My wife basicly caught me and I denied it. I am ready to be honest now. Why should she ever believe me. My family means everything to me.

He sent me text messages talking about God on and on and how he changed his life and how he might have someone in his life now but he is not letting anyone in but Jesus. He went on to say he quit smoking pot and wants to get off the Methadone soon.
He use to be a Heroin addict and I helped him get into the clinic for help and I fully supported him for over three years when he did not work. He hated his parents but I helped bring them together and now they are buddies. He refused to go to church with me. Now I don’t go at all. He has a job now and I don’t. I am the loser now I guess. I don’t know.
All I got was a dog out of it. lol I love the dog.
Don’t you hate to hear when your ex changes for the better when you are finally moving on with your life? I am happy for him but I just wish he could have changed when I was in the picture.

Melissa asked:
How can I legally go about doing something about this. I do not want my daughter going back because I fear for her. He lives with his parents. She found some pills in his room that turned out to be Methadone. He has a past of drug abuse but was supposedly clean for about 4 years.
I live in Tennessee if that makes a difference.
Thank you
Melissa
I always thought that unless you had severe chronic pain, you had to get Methadone at a Methadone Clinic.

I am 32 year old recovering heroin addict and a father of a 7 year old son. I have struggled with heroin addiction since I was 15 years old, I divorced from my ex-wife back in ‘05. I have been clean for 3 months now. My wife ended up getting full custody of our son when we divorced because of my addiction.
I am trying to straighten up my life. I attend narcotics anonymous every single day. I haven’t missed a day for 3 months. Would it be unreasonable to ask for visitation with my son? I just want to see my son, I love him more than anything on Earth, and I want to be there for him. How could I go about petitioning for custody, because my wife will not let me see him at all because she said ” I am not a father to him anymore”.
I pay $350.00 a month in child support.
